About Rory Foster
Rory Foster is Certified and Licensed in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork and Nationally Board Certified in Reflexology. He is licensed in Kentucky and Indiana.
Rory has spent his life working with human anatomy and movement. He began his training in classical ballet in Chicago as a young boy of 13. He had a professional performing career in New York and London with American Ballet Theatre and London Ballet Theatre, respectively, as well as with other national ballet companies. Following his performing years, he worked as the ballet master for the New Orleans Ballet and later the Chicago Ballet. Rory transitioned into university teaching and was a professor and dean of the Barat College Conservatory of Dance at DePaul University in Chicago. Upon retiring from teaching, and as a lifelong practitioner of yoga and meditation, it seemed natural for him to transition into the area of alternative and complementary healing through mind/body integrative therapies: therapeutic reflexology, massage therapy, energy healing, and teaching yoga and meditation.
Rory completed his reflexology certification in 2011 at the International Institute of Reflexology in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he trained under Dwight Byers, a leading world authority on foot and hand reflexology. He later passed his national board certification examinations with the American Reflexology Certification Board (ARCB) becoming a nationally board certified reflexologist. He is a professional member of the Reflexology Association of America (RAA) and he served as Chair of the Education Committee and as a Director on RAA’s Board of Directors. He is also a member of the International Council of Reflexologists. In 2014, Rory completed his certification in massage therapy at Advanced Massage Therapeutics in Louisville, where he later was invited to join its faculty. He is currently a Board Approved Continuing Education Provider with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) and teaches a NCBTMB Approved course in Reflexology.
Rory holds an E-RYT designation and is nationally registered through Yoga Alliance and certified to teach Yoga and Meditation. His yoga training was done in 2002 at Ananda Sangha’s Expanding Light in Nevada City, California. He has taught yoga in Louisville since arriving here in 2003 and has been on the faculty of Yoga East, Blairwood Tennis Club, and Metro Fitness. In 2010 he joined the teaching staff at Baptist Health/Milestone Wellness Center in St. Mathews, where he taught yoga and meditation for 10 years.
Rory has been a Reiki Master level healing practitioner since 2010.
